Fillmore Council makes plans as weather warms

Saturday, April 6, 2013

FILLMORE -- As the weather continues to hover somewhere between winter and springtime, the Town of Fillmore seems to be in the same holding pattern.

The town council had only a few items to discuss Thursday, but all centered on work that can be done once the weather gets warm and stays that way.

Council President Alan Jones requested and was granted permission to rent equipment for blacktop patching. As in previous years, Jones and some other volunteers will volunteer their time to apply the asphalt hot patch to the town's streets.

Jones said work will not begin immediately, but council permission allows him to move forward when it is possible.

Utilities Supervisor Joe Cash reported that asphalt cold patch has also been ordered and is likely to be delivered this week, allowing for that work to begin when weather allows.

Cash also reported that new lift station pumps have been delivered and installed.

Clerk-Treasurer Wanda Seidler reported that approximately 20 sewer liens are pending and will be mailed soon. These notices will give 10 days notice to get the outstanding balance paid.

Seidler also reported that a special town council meeting is set for Wednesday, April 10 at 2 p.m. The town council will be reviewing plans for the upcoming stormwater grant project.

Finally, the board confirmed that Fillmore Community Clean-up Day is set for Saturday, May 11, one week before Putnam County Tox-Away Day.
