John C. Shaner

John C. Shaner, 88, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013.

He was born on June 4, 1924 in Greencastle to Clyde and Lula Shaner.

John served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He retired from France Stone Co. with 29-1/2 years of service, and had been employed at the Putnam County Highway Department for eight years.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Wanda and his second wife Virginia; a son, Larry Shaner; four brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are his children, Sandra S. Chadd and John W. Shaner; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at noon Tuesday, April 9 at Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, with Rev. Hallie Taylor officiating.
