SP stays cold, loses to North Central

The South Putnam baseball continues to search for its first win. The Eagles lost to North Central on Saturday 14-2 in five innings.

SPHS (0-4) was led at the plate by junior Tyler Long, who went one-for-three with an RBI, and senior Justin Bumgardner, who was one-for-two with an RBI and a run scored.

Long also got the start for the Eagles, going three innings and allowing six hits and two earned runs. He struck out five and walked three.

Junior Wyatt Nees pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief, struck out two and allowed one earned run.

Freshman Grady McHugh finished the game getting a perfect two outs.

The Eagles had seven errors.

SPHS will get another chance to win on Monday when the team hosts West Central Conference opponent Cascade at 5 p.m.
