Cloverdale golfers outshoot West Vigo

TERRE HAUTE -- The Cloverdale boys' golf team picked up a dual meet win on Monday, traveling to West Vigo to beat the Vikings 178-205.

Aaron Whitlock (42), Freddy Fislar (44), Devin Bassett (46) and Rylan Mattocks (47) all shot less than 50 for the Clovers.

"Aaron played a very solid round under the conditions, as did Freddy," Cloverdale coach Doug Wokoun said. "Devin Bassett had a good effort , also. It wasn't as windy as the Early Bird (Northview Invitational) on Saturday, but it was substantial."

Kylar Galloway and Dustin Cummings each shot a 50 for the Clovers.

"We have some things to work through and improve, but we have gotten off to a good start," Wokoun said. "I really like our group and the efford and mindset they bring every day."

The Clovers return to action Thursday when the squad travels to Linton. They tee off from Phil Harris Golf Club at 4:30 p.m.

"Our assignment Thursday is a big one," Wokoun said. "Linton is one of the very best in this part of the state."
