Eagles track and field teams get wins at Cascade
South Putnam's track teams picked up a pair of West Central Conference wins on Tuesday after defeating Cascade 73-54 in the girls' meet and 90-42 in the boys' meet.
Ariel Higgins led the Eagle charge with four wins on the day, taking the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash and long jump competitions.
Senior Leanna Masters won both the shot put and discus events while Deborah Cheatham won the high jump. In addition, South Putnam won the 400-, 1600- and 3200-meter relays.
Junior Klayton Vittetow and senior Ryan Chestnut paced the boys' squad with two wins apiece. Vittetow won the 100 hurdles and tied for first in the high jump. Chestnut won the shot put and discus events.
Wins were also picked up by junior Rudy Harris in the long jump, Trent Workman in the pole vault, sophomore Lucas Lorian in the 300-meter hurdles, Hunter Barr in the 800-meter run and Ben Feist in the 200-meter dash.
The Eagles also won the 400- and 3200-meter relays over the Cadets.
