Jane Goodall

If you have a question for primatologist, ethologist, anthropologist and UN Messenger of Peace Jane Goodall -- who will visit DePauw University on Wednesday, April 17 -- you're invited to submit it.

Questions sent to ubbenquestions@yahoo.com between now and Sunday evening will be distributed to DePauw student journalists, who will select the ones they will present to Goodall at the conclusion of her Ubben Lecture.

Persons are asked to include their name and either their connection to DePauw (i.e. current senior, faculty or staff member or graduate) or their hometown. All questions will be considered.

Goodall will discuss "Sowing the Seeds of Hope" in an 8 p.m. speech in Neal Fieldhouse, which is located in DePauw's Lilly Physical Education and Recreation Center (702 S. College Ave.).

Like all Ubben Lectures, the event is presented free of admission charge and is free and open to the public.

"With an event in a 3,000-seat venue, it is simply impossible to give all audience members an even chance of presenting a question to our guest," states Ken Owen, executive director of media relations at DePauw and coordinator of the Ubben Lecture Series. "This mechanism creates opportunity for all to contribute and, if past experience is a guide, will allow for more questions to be presented during the Q&A period of the program. It also provides a chance for our students to shine."

Dr. Goodall will sign copies of her books at the conclusion of the evening. Details of the book signing and other elements of the event will be released later this week.

No tickets are required for Goodall's DePauw lecture. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Since 1986, the Ubben Lecture Series has brought nearly 100 of the world's top leaders, thinkers and artists -- including Margaret Thatcher, Bill Clinton, Benazir Bhutto and Mikhail Gorbachev -- to the DePauw campus.
