Eagles track and field outruns rain, Eminence
Rain showers deterred many sporting events on Thursday afternoon but the South Putnam track and field teams were not slowed by the wet weather or Eminence.
The boys' squad defeated the Eels 88-44 while the girls' squad won the dual meet 82-40.
Ariel Higgins and Leanna Masters posted two wins apiece for the girls with Higgins winning the 100- and 300-meter hurdles and Masters taking the shot put and discus events.
Maddie Egold won the 800-meter run, Joslyn Farmer placed first in the 200-meter dash, Juliana Delano won the 3200-meter run, Deborah Cheatham won the high jump and Madison Plunkett won the long jump.
In addition, the Eagles won the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay races.
Klayton Vittetow paced the boys' squad with three wins, taking the 110- and 300-meter hurdles along with the high jump.
The Eagles also got wins through Jacob Lorimer in the pole vault, Kinser Franklin in the shot put, Zane Yon in the 100-meter dash, Anthony Mitchell in the long jump, Matt Lund in the 800 meter run, Cain Dyson in the 200 meter dash and Adams in the 400 meter dash.
