Putnam County Public Library to host The Big Read Saturday

Monday, April 15, 2013

The Big Read is back at the Putnam County Public Library and "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain is the book.

This Saturday, April 20 from 1-4 p.m., the library will host a book discussion followed by the movie, "Tom and Huck," a popular adaptation of the classic novel, starring Jonathan Taylor Thomas.

Books have been available to the public to pick-up for free, and there are still copies available.

"The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and to encourage citizens to read for pleasure and enlightenment," the Big Read's website notes.

For more information, persons may contact Sam Hirt at 653-2755 ext. 118 or via email at shirt@putnam.lib.in.us.
