To celebrate the 43rd anniversary of Earth Day, there will an opportunity for children o make their own reusable paper out of recycled shredded scrap paper and to make a "stained-glass" Earth to take home.

Craft tables will be set up on the lawn (or in the Nature Center in the event of bad weather), along with various educational opportunities such as Pollinators of the Prairie Hike at 11 a.m. The park naturalist will guide participants on a hike through the prairie. Participants will learn about the pollinators.

Beginning at 1 p.m. there will be a program on lasagna gardening and composting. Participants will learn the basics of a non-traditional method of gardening that is organic, earth friendly and easy. The demonstration will take place at the picnic tables west of the Nature Center.

Finally, beginning at 3 p.m. will be a timber management and reforestation hike where participants will learn about different trees and see how reforestation efforts have paid off at McCloud Park on a naturalist-led tour of the park.
