BROWNSBURG -- The Cloverdale boys' golf team finished in eleventh place at the Brownsburg Invitational on Saturday, shooting a 383 at the 14-team, 18-hole event.

Freddy Fislar shot an 86 to lead the Clovers, rebounding from a slow start. Rylan Mattocks (94), Chase Snyder (98), Aaron Whitlock (100) and Devin Bassett (101) also competed for CHS.

"Freddy started with two out-of-bounds, so his score was really very good after that," CHS coach Doug Wokoun said. "He is starting to find the consistency we have been looking for.

"Our other players had very mixed efforts -- good holes or stretches, followed by not-so-good stretches. At different points, Rylan and Aaron had really good stretches.

"Devin played well for never having seen the course, and playing in his first varsity tournament. Chase played well, but was hit with some bad luck a couple of times on what otherwise were pretty good shots."

Like most of the golf teams in the area, Cloverdale has been at the mercy of bad weather, and that continued on Saturday.

"West Chase was pretty badly damaged by last week's rains," Wokoun said. "Most of the bunkers were not playable and there were some other areas that were unplayable.

"There just hasn't been time for them to get things back, but it's a great facility and I am sure they will get it back in shape soon."

Cloverdale (3-4) hosts South Putnam and Tri-West at Clover Meadows on Monday.
