Hamm produced a March 21 charity concert in Miami that featured his son, Alex Hamm, of Los Angeles performing to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Jon is the son and Alex the grandson of the late Wanda Hamm, Greencastle, who passed away from the disease this past November. Jon, a 1976 graduate of Greencastle High School, was later director of bands at GHS from 1982-87. He is currently director of instrumental music at Ransom Everglades School in Coconut Grove, Fla. Alex will graduate from USC in May with a degree in music. His a cappella group, the SoCal VoCals, are the top collegiate group in the nation, having won the ICCA Championship three times. The benefit concert and donation were done in honor of Wanda Mae Hamm. Karen Pelfrey of Greencastle is also the daughter of Wanda Hamm, and in turn, Jon's sister and Alex's aunt.
