Mill Pond Campus organizing Adopt-a-Senior Day program

Thursday, May 2, 2013

Mill Pond Health Campus in Greencastle is hosting its first-ever Adopt-a-Senior Day on May 21.

Many of the facility's residents do not have a lot of visitors, and it is fun for them to meet new people. These individuals are part of our community's history.

For Adopt-a-Senior Day, Mill Pond is looking for 90 community members to adopt its individual residents.

Once signed up, participants will be immediately assigned a senior. Regulations state that Mill Pond cannot give out their full name, but participants will know if they are male or female and a few things they like.

On National Senior Citizen Day, Tuesday, May 21 participants are asked to arrive at Mill Pond about 6 p.m. for a Fiesta Celebration where they will be introduced to their adopted senior.

Organizers ask that each senior be brought a gift valued at $10 to $20.

Besides being a way to brighten someone's day and life, the program is offered as a good way to meet a potential lifelong friend. If families would like to participate, each member will be assigned a resident.

For any questions, persons may call Brooke Trissel at 720-4706.
