MONROVIA -- The Greencastle boys' golf team has warmed up with the weather and completed a four-meet week with its fourth win on Thursday.

The Tiger Cubs won a three-team meet at Deer Meadows on Thursday with 155. Cascade finished second on its home course with a 175 and Monrovia shot a 215.

Alec Davis earned medalist honors for Greencastle with a 36. He edged out junior Luke Brotherton (37) and freshman Jake Buis (38).

"(We had) very good scores by Alec, Luke and Jake," GHS coach Steve Paquin said. "The top three scorers were again consistent, and our other two scorers need to develop the same consistency.

"It's a matter of not having the doubles, triples or quadruple-bogies that affect a player's confidence and ability to come back and not ruin his round."

Tanner Dean shot a 44 for GHS and Wataru Otaki had a 46.

Cascade's best scorer -- Hunter Drury -- had a 40 and Monrovia's -- Daniel Moore -- had a 43.

Thursday was just the second time this season Greencastle has played the ball down on each shot. In previous events the golfers were able to pick up, clean and place their ball throughout the course.

GHS is started to heat up, but Paquin said the team is still a little short of where it hopes to be.

"Our score tonight was about eight strokes higher than what we will have to shoot to gain top tournament readiness," he said.

The Tiger Cubs host Northview on Monday at Windy Hill at 5 p.m. before preparing for the county and West Central Conference tournaments next week.
