MARTINSVILLE -- The South Putnam baseball team continues to search for an offensive identity. The Eagles' bats came up short on Friday at Martinsville in a 13-1, five-inning loss.

Senior Aaron Parker led off the game with a double, but that was one of only four hits in the game for the Eagles.

SPHS finally scored in the top of the fifth when Joe Waters singled and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Jake Schroer, but the one run wasn't enough.

Nick Scott struck out four batters in 1.1 innings for the Eagles and allowed two earned runs. J.D. Briones struck out one in 1.2 innings and earned the loss. Braxton Lucas threw one inning.

The Eagles (3-11) play at North Vermillion on Saturday at 10 a.m.
