County Jail

Five people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Tuesday.

* At 11:35 a.m. Desmond Lee Scales, 33, Greencastle, was arrested for criminal trespassing.

* At 1:50 p.m. Robert Huge Hagan, 32, Fillmore, was charged with battery causing bodily injury.

* At 2:15 p.m. Charles Howard Corbin Jr., 43, Roachdale, was held at the jail for possession of marijuana and dealing marijuana.

* At 3:40 p.m. Steven Wayne Keck, 51, Roachdale, was booked in for possession of marijuana and dealing marijuana.

* At 11:20 p.m. Tiffany Marie Scales, 27, Greencastle, was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement.

Sheriff's Department

* At 6:02 a.m. Monday, Thomas A. Boller, 40, Greencastle, was on the eastbound on-ramp to Interstate 70 from U.S. 231 in a 2012 Chevrolet pickup.

He told Deputy Adam Hull that when he started to accelerate, he lost control, causing his vehicle to slide sideways into a road sign on the right side of the road.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 8:32 a.m. Monday, Kathleen A. Vance, 88, Greencastle, was southbound on Manhattan Road in a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am when her windshield fogged up and she was unable to see.

Her vehicle left the road on the right side, hitting a telephone box and the ditch.

Deputy Hull estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

City Police

One minor accident was reported recently by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 8:49 a.m. Friday, May 3, a one-vehicle mishap was reported at 1014 Avenue C.

Officer Darrel Bunten reported that Robert Bell Sr., 66, Greencastle, lost control of his 2005 Dodge Dakota Sport and struck a Duke Energy power pole next to the driveway at the residence.

Total damage was listed at $2,500-$5,000.

Bell was cited for operating without financial responsibility (no insurance).

Four additional traffic citations were issued recently by city officers.

-- At 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, Wade Walker, 39, Fortville, was cited by Officer Matt Huffman at Indiana and Washington streets for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

-- At 2:18 a.m. Tuesday, Ellen Kobe, 22, Indianapolis, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street.

-- At 3:22 p.m. Monday, Tasha Brewer, 20, Bainbridge, was ticketed by Officer Jeff Modlin for 40 mph in a 20-mph zone on Shadowlawn Avenue.

-- At 12:05 Saturday, Russel Shoemaker, 19, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Huffman at Indianapolis Road and Kentwood Drive for an expired license plate (October 2012).
