City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

At 11:04 a.m. Thursday, Rufus Alexander Gaston, 26, Greencastle, was arrested by Capt. Mike Hanlon on a Vigo County warrant for failure to appear on a previous public intoxication charge.

Arrested at Castlebury Apartments, Gaston was later charged with possession of marijuana under 30 grams.

He was booked into the Putnam County Jail at 12:30 p.m.

Sheriff's Department

* At 5:34 p.m. Wednesday, Clyde D. Clearwaters, 70, Greencastle, was northbound on Main Street in Cloverdale in a 1978 Chevrolet pickup when he passed out from an unknown medical condition.

His vehicle traveled across the southbound lane, jumped the curb and went through the ditch into the Cloverdale Liquors parking lot.

In the parking lot, Clearwaters' truck struck a parked 1998 Lincoln Continental registered to Mark Terry, Cloverdale. The impact pushed the Lincoln into a 2010 Audi A4 owned by Harjender K. Parewal, Plainfield.

Sgt. Jon Chadd cited Clearwaters for operating without financial responsibility.

Total damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 5:05 p.m. Thursday, Shelby C. Winsted, 18, Cloverdale, was backing a 2006 Ford F250 out of a spot in the Cloverdale Value Mart lot.

She did not see the 1999 GMC Sierra driven by Richard L. Douglas, 52, Greencastle, passing behind her, and back into the driver's door.

Reserve Deputy Kent Goldman estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.
