Hilda 'Betty' Magner Jackson

Hilda "Betty" Magner Jackson, 92, of Marion, formerly of Paoli, passed away at 11:18 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Marion General Hospital.

She was born Jan. 14, 1921 in Fillmore to Ezra Newton and Ruby Eugene Evans Kersey.

Betty married Leland G. Magner on Dec. 27, 1943 and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1975. She then married Charles W. Jackson on April 1, 1978 and he preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2002.

She owned and operated Betty's Beauty Shop in Paoli for 32 years. She was a member of the Paoli Friends Meeting, Paoli BPW, Paoli Order of Eastern Star and the Red Hats.

Survivors include son David Magner and wife Julie of Marion, sister Verginia Leah Hardwick of Greencastle, grandson Aaron Magner and wife Mary and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Corinne Magner.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Basil Eugene Kersey and Hugh Wright Kersey, and four sisters, Mary Icelone Koch, Helen Margeret Beaman, Vera Mae Rossock and Doris Jane Richey.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 15 at the Paoli Friends Meeting, 301 N. Gospel St., Paoli, with Pastor Dan Smetzer officiating. Interment will follow at the Paoli Community Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service.
