The Greencastle junior varsity baseball team came back from a two-run deficit in the seventh inning to beat South Putnam to win the 2013 Putnam County Classic JV baseball championship game on Saturday.

The softball championship was decided by a much less clear-cut decision. The three county teams -- Greencastle, Cloverdale and North Putnam -- played a round-robin format tournament and each finished with one win and one loss.

Greencastle was named champion, with the tie-breaker being fewest runs allowed.

The Cougars didn't let that get to them and they got their bats going early and often in the win.

Greencastle's two county wins come after a disappointing performance last weekend when the Tiger Cubs lost in the first round of both the baseball and softball varsity tournaments.
