Betty McGaughey, 88, of Greencastle, passed away at Asbury Towers in Greencastle at 11 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1925 at Greencastle to Oscar and Minnie Miller Morlan.

She loved her five kids, loved to cook and was well known for her yeast rolls which were fondly called "Betty Buns."

She cooked at P.R. Mallory, Central National Bank, The Monon and Fairway restaurants and she also loved to play bingo.

She was a member of Hanna Street Baptist Church.

On March 15, 1963 she married Lawrence McGaughey at Greencastle, and he preceded her in death.

She had five children, three sons David (Hallie) Beaman of Greenfield, Tenn., Danny Beaman of Colorado, and Dennis (Dee Ann) Beaman of Windsor, Colo.; two daughters, Barbara (L.C.) Lawhorn of Bainbridge, and Bonnie (Ray) Miller of Greencastle, 47 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and eight great--great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, three sisters and a great-grandson.

Graveside services are planned for 1 p.m. Thursday, May 23 at Hebron Cemetery. Rev. Ron Knapp will officiate.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Machledt and Servies Funeral Home at Waveland.
