Cougars' baseball loses at Speedway

SPEEDWAY -- The North Putnam baseball team was denied its 20th win of the season on Monday, losing at Speedway 4-0.

The Cougars (19-5-1) failed to get a runner past second bases and managed just one hit -- a single by senior Jake Haste.

Haste (7-2) started for the Cougars and three a complete game. He gave up six hits, two earned runs and just three walks, but each batter he walked came around to score in the dual.

North Putnam lost at Northview on Tuesday, 10-9, and is now off until their sectional semifinal game at Crawfordsville next week.

Freshman Kyler Jeter hit a grand slam in the loss.
