Greencastle High School sophomore Taylor Secrest was recently awarded $100 as part of Learn More Indiana's annual "Cash for College" campaign.

The initiative helps students of all ages learn about paying for education beyond high school, and includes a student contest to encourage students in kindergarten through high school to think about saving and paying for college at a grade-appropriate level.

One winner in each grade level received $100 in a CollegeChoice 529 Savings Plan, which is tax-free when used for education.

The tenth-grade contest entry required students to search for potential scholarships for college and detail current activities that might help them earn scholarships.

Greencastle High School was also honored for its participation in the "Cash for College" campaign. The Cash for College Challenge Grant, a $1,000 grant to three high schools that demonstrated they were focused on helping students file financial aid forms on time and learn about paying for college, was awarded to Avon High School, Greencastle High School and Shelbyville High School.

All three schools implemented specific "Cash for College" activities during the spring semester.
