The South Putnam baseball team wrapped up its regular season with a win on senior night against visiting Clay City on Tuesday, 8-4.

Senior Nick Scott pitched a complete game for SPHS, allowing eight hits, striking out eight and walking just two.

"It was a great team win," Eagles' coach Zach Love said. "We had some great pitching form Nick Scott."

SPHS trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the third before junior Tyler Long came up with a pinch-hit three-run homer to take the lead.

The Eagles added three more in the fourth and two in the fifth. They had ten hits total, including two each from seniors Tanner Thompson and JD Briones and Long.

Thompson had a double and an RBI.

All nine batters reached base for the Eagles.

South Putnam (4-18) also played some of its best defense of the season, committing zero errors.

The Eagles sectional game against Covenant Christian, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed.

SPHS will now begin its postseason on Thursday against Covenant Christian at 6 p.m. at Speedway High School.
