Grover A. Vaughan, 91, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013.

Born Sept. 3, 1921 in Doe Run, Mo., he was the son of Grover and Lucy (Williams) Vaughan. He was a graduate of Doe Run High School and an Army Air Corps veteran having served in World War II.

He married Dorothy (Phillips) Vaughan on Dec. 18, 1948 and she preceded him in death on July 23, 2011.

Grover had worked law enforcement with the Greencastle Police Department and the Indiana State Police. He served as chief of campus security with DePauw University and retired after 31 years of service on Oct. 1, 1986.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and helped to organize and establish the Greencastle chapter.

Survivors include his children, Larry (Teresa) Vaughan of Greencastle, Mark (Suzanne) Vaughan of Austin, Texas, and Carol Milender of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; a half-brother, Jerry (Rachel) Andrews of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Brandon Vaughan, Eric Vaughan, Nicole Eickhoff, Zachary Vaughan, Taylor Vaughan, Julie Parrish and Shannon Milender; eight great-grandchildren, Thaddeus and Caedmon Vaughan, Nakyhia and Jacie Vaughan, Parker and Palmer Parrish and Tyler and Lauren Eickhoff.

He was preceded in death by his father Grover Vaughan, mother Lucy Vaughan Andrews, sister Helen Mandabach and half brother Robert Andrews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 30 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Rev. Randy McNeely officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29..
