Almost Home will be hosting a wine dinner featuring wine from Barone-Fini Winery in Italy on Monday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m.

The wine dinner will also host the grower at Barone-Fini Winery, Giovanni Bonmartini-Fini. He will be on hand to discuss the various wines paired with the light summer fare that owner of Almost Home, Gail Smith, has planned for the evening.

"We try to have one of these (wine dinners) every six-weeks," Smith stated. "Just never know when a grower can come out."

Bonmartini-Fini will be traveling to Greencastle from Italy, where he and his family continue a 500+ year tradition of winemaking.

With a vineyard dating back to 1497, the Barone-Fini Winery distributes over 60,000 cases per year, worldwide. The winery uses a mixture of age old techniques and modern technology to produce a high standard of wine.

Barone-Fini Winery is probably best known for its Pinot Grigio, which has been a staple of the winery for the past 25-30 years. Barone-Fini Winery also has produced D.O.C wine, which is one of the highest standards for Italian wine, from year-to-year.

Smith looks to have more growers out for future wine dinners.

The wine dinner will feature a four-course meal cooked by Smith and paired with different wines from Barone-Fini Winery.

Dinner will include: a prosciutto mozzarella tomato skewer paired with a Fini merlot. Second course will be and asparagus, red pepper and goat cheese salad paired with pinot grigio. The main course will consist of farfalle with salmon, mint and fresh peas, paired with George Duboeuf Macon Villages wine. For dessert will be a strawberry-rhubarb pie paired with an Enza rose prosecco. The dinner will be $25 per person.

Guests will be able to purchase wine by the bottle and Bonmartini-Fini will also be signing bottles of wine for guest.
