Sheriff's Department

* At 1:33 a.m. on Thursday, Shawn B. Diebold, 21, Bainbridge, was traveling eastbound on County Road 250 South near County Road 200 South in a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria when a deer ran from the north side of the roadway into the travel lane.

Diebold told Deputy Mike Downing that he swerved to miss the deer, but couldn't causing damage to the drivers side front fender, headlight, hood and driver's door.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Renee A. Lawless, 26, Bainbridge, was traveling westbound on U.S. 36 near County Road 730 East in a 2007 Honda Civic when a deer ran in front of the vehicle. The deer caused damage to the left front fender, front bumper, hood and windshield.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Police

The Greencastle Police Department issued a pair of recent traffic citations.

* At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Brittney Baring, 24, Fayetteville, N.C., was cited for driving with a suspended license. Officer Matt Huffman issued the ticket at Percy Julian Drive and Indianapolis Road.

* At 4:10 a.m. Friday on Indianapolis Road, Sgt. Charles Inman issued a learner's permit violation to Clynt Agee, 22, Poland.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three recent dispatches.

* At 10:31 p.m. on Thursday, GFD performed a lift assist at 1001 S. Fillmore Rd., returning to station at 10:55 p.m.

At 11:08 p.m. firefighters investigated an alarm at Walmart Distribution, 333 S. 10th St. The problem was caused by a water leak. They cleared the scene at 11:25 p.m.

* At 8:16 a.m. Friday, crews were called to a tree into a power line at 211 Elizabeth St. The tree had broken one line and was tangled up in other cables. Firefighters remained on scene waiting for Duke Energy and then helping clear brush and direct traffic as Duke addressed the problem. They returned to station at 9:05 a.m.
