Monday accident

Wednesday, June 5, 2013
An accident occurred Monday afternoon at 4:19 p.m. on U.S. 231 near the Putnam-Montgomery county line. Johnna J. Hamlin of Watseka, Ill., was traveling southeast on U.S. 231 in a 1996 Dodge Ram owned by Roy Poynter Jr. of Bainbridge. As Hamlin approached the curve the Bobcat attached to the truck started fishtailing and became detached from the truck and continued into the guardrail where it overturned. Chief Deputy Tom Helmer of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department said the cause of the accident was too much load for the hitch. Damage was estimated at $20,000 including the guardrail. Also assisting at the scene was the Roachdale Police Department.
