Boil advisory lifted in Roachdale

Thursday, June 6, 2013

ROACHDALE -- The boil advisory in effect since last Friday for Roachdale water customers has been lifted.

Town officials say the advisory was precautionary in nature until further test results could be obtained.

With clean tests in hand, the advisory ended Thursday afternoon.

The problem arose when test results from a single residence showed high bacteria levels late last week. All tests of the town wells and surrounding homes were negative for the bacteria.

Although Roachdale officials were certain the problem was in the residence, not the town's system, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management required the boil order be put in place.

Town officials also advised the residents of the home in question were taking care of the problem.
