Roachdale park clean-up under way

Saturday, June 8, 2013
Town employees Jason Woodall and Mike Mahoy help set up new picnic tables at Roachdale Community Park. This is phase one in a park clean up project conceived by town resident Tammy Folck. Each table was purchased by local business' and residents. The next step in this project will be the park clean up day on Monday, June 17. Folck will be looking to re-paint most of the equipment and do a general clean up of the park that day.

ROACHDALE--Local resident Tammy Folck has taken it upon herself to start revitalizing the Roachdale Community Park.

Folck brought her concept of cleaning up the park to the Roachdale Town Board several months ago, she was given permission last month to get her project under way.

Phase one of the project was procuring picnic tables at a low cost to replace the tables in the shelter of the park. Folck went to PEN products to find what was needed.

PEN products is a business based off of hiring convicts from local institutions to help them gain skills to help them once the leave the prison facilities. Inmates are given a chance to develop job and communication skills that will help better to reintegrate with society once released.

Along with partnering with PEN, Folck received help from local business and residents to purchase the tables.

The park clean up project will continue on Monday, June 17 with a community clean up day. Folck has plans to replace other items in the park in the near future.

  • There is great team spirit and pride in Roachdale! It is great to see improvements being done for the kids and the rest of the community, so that they have a nice place to gather. Big thanks to Tammy Folck for seeing a need and taking action to get it accomplished!
