Sheriff's Department

* At 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 2, Trecia J. Smith, 43, Reelsville, was traveling north on Manhattan Road, just south of County Road 300 South in a 2002 Suzuki XL-7 Grand Vitar when a deer entered the roadway.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 10:26 p.m. on Friday, June 7, Michael W. Aaron, 32, Reelsville was driving northbound on County Road 300 West in a 1997 Honda Odyssey when he struck a Reese Trailor Hitch, which was laying in the middle of the road.

Aaron was able to maneuver his vehicle to the nearest driveway, even though the airbags did deploy and strike him in the face.

Deputy Mike Downing stated that a good Samaritan along with Aaron were able to remove the bent rim and change the tire. Aaron was able to drive his vehicle home.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 11:27 p.m. on Friday, June 7, Vincent Eugene Johnson, 25, Avon, was driving northbound on County Road 880 West at a high rate of speed when he approached the intersection of County Road 750 North in a 2003 Dodge Ram.

Johnson was unable to stop and he drove his vehicle northbound through the tee intersection and continued to drive out of control northbound for approximately 200 yards.

Deputy Mike Downing stated that Johnson then hit a tree head on and spun around several times, striking several other small trees and scattering truck parts, beer cans and debris for several yards.

The vehicle then rolled down an embankment and came to rest with the passengers side of the vehicle leaning against a tree.

In the vehicle with Johnson was Leighton A. Fruits, 18, Lafayette, who complained of entire body pain, but was not treated and Katie L. Berry, 23, Danville, who complained of entire body pain and was treated by Operation Life for a fracture/dislocation.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

Johnson was charged with leaving an accident, operating while intoxicated resulting in injury, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and having an open container.

* At 12:32 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, Joshua G. Batchelor, 20, Poland, was driving southbound on U.S. 231 near County Road 300 West in a 2002 Mercury MGI.

Batchelor told Sgt. Craig Sibbitt that he lost control of the vehicle, blacked out and didn't remember anything else.

While driving southbound on U.S. 231 Batchelor crossed the northbound lane and came in contact with a guard rail on the east side of the roadway. After making contact with the guardrail he then left the roadway and continued into a deep raven for approximately 100 feet, while colliding with several small trees.

Batchelor refused treatment and was uninjured. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

*At 4:43 p.m. on Monday, Cassie M. Martin, 29, Greencastle, was stopped in traffic in a 2009 Ford Escape XLT, waiting for a vehicle to turn south in front of her on County Road 500 East when Tammy S. Fox, 54, Greencastle, driving a 2003 Saturn Vue, struck her from the rear.

Fox stated to Sgt. Jon Chadd that she didn't see Martin stopped and couldn't avoid striking her. After hitting the vehicle Fox continued across a ditch and into a field on the north side of the road.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Police

A Saturday night traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a Greencastle man on multiple charges.

At 11:15 p.m. Sgt. Charles Inman stopped 30-year-old Michael J. Lukenbill at Vine and Walnut streets for traveling the wrong way on a one way street on his motor scooter.

Lukenbill was found to be in possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, dealing in marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and dealing in a controlled substance, all Class D felonies. He was also charged with Class A misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

Lukenbill was also found to be wanted on drug and theft warrants from Tippecanoe County.

* Officer Albert Epple responded to a Saturday morning accident on Fawn View Avenue near Indianapolis Road.

Dustin Scott, 32, Greencastle, told Epple he was southbound on Fawn View in a 2008 Dodge Avenger when a 2005 Ford 500 pulled out of the Auto Zone parking lot and he was unable to avoid the accident.

The driver of the Ford, Robbie DeRosa, 61, Cloverdale, said she did not see Scott approaching and pulled out in front of him.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

GPD officers also issued four recent tickets.

* At 9 p.m. on Friday, Officer Nick Eastham stopped Casey Grayson, 28, Reelsville, at S.R. 240 and Zinc Mill Road. Grayson's plates had expired on May 14.

* At 4:55 a.m. on Saturday, Eastham cited Savanna Gaddis, 18, Cloverdale, for traveling 50 mph in a 30 mph zone on Bloomington St.

* At 5:11 a.m. on Saturday, Eastham ticketed Denver Earl Payne, 22, Morgantown, on Bloomington Street fro traveling 56 mph in a 30.

* At 9:11 p.m. Sunday, Sgt. Inman cited Jason Cole, 26, Clayton, on SR 240 for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to a number of recent dispatches.

* At 1:13 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, GFD investigated an alarm at 304 S. Indiana St. The problem was cooking. Crews cleared the scene at 1:21 p.m.

* At 11:36 a.m. on Friday, firefighters investigated an alarm at 446 Anderson St. The accidental set-off was caused by construction. They returned to station at 11:47 a.m.

At 3:10 p.m. personnel responded to a report of lights going on and off at City Hall, 1 N. Locust St. The lights had flashed and there was a possibility of electrical sparks. Firefighters found no fire, but said there was a possible electrical outlet problem. They cleared the scene at 3:41 p.m.

* At 1:24 a.m. Monday, responders were called to a medical run at McDonald's, but were disregarded at 1:25 a.m.

At 6:27 p.m. GFD performed fluid cleanup following a motor vehicle accident at 1360 Indianapolis Rd. They cleared the scene at 7:11 p.m.

* At 9:51 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters were dispatched to FB Distro, 1901 E. SR 240, but were disregarded at 9:53 a.m.
