GCSC hires two new administrators

Having hired a new superintendent, two principals, an assistant principal and an athletic director since January, the Greencastle School Board filled two more administrator positions at its Wednesday meeting.

The board unanimously approved Superintendent Dawn Puckett's recommendation of Jeff Hubble as assistant superintendent and Brian Emmert as Greencastle Middle School assistant principal.

Hubble comes to Greencastle Community Schools from Brownsburg Middle School, where he served as principal. Prior to his time in Brownsburg, Hubble served in Wayne Township schools in the Indianapolis Public School system.

"I'm excited after 20 years in a middle school office to become an assistant superintendent, which I consider to be a coach of principals," Hubble said, emphasizing an assistant superintendent's focus on curriculum, instruction and assessment.

Hubble also highlighted that coming to Greencastle is something of a homecoming as he was born in the city in the old Putnam County Hospital.

He takes over the position vacated by Puckett when she was hired as the new superintendent in March.

New GMS principal Emmert is replacing Scott Weltz, who transferred to the recently created technology integrator position. Principal Tamra Walker emphasized the shoes Emmert is filling.

"It was such an exhausting task to hire someone to replace Scott Weltz," she said

Emmert comes to GMS with 12 years of administrative experience, including time as East Noble Middle School assistant principal.
