The committee for the 2013 Putnam County Fair Parade has been meeting since October 2012 making plans for this year's parade, which will be held Friday, July 19. This year's theme is "Memories of the Past."

Judy Miller, the director of the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry since 2008 will be the marshal for the parade this year.

In her time at the food pantry, Miller estimates she has given more than 3,000 volunteer hours to the local organization.

The Arnold family will once again carry the grand marshal in their carriage.

The committee is asking that if you're going to have a float for judging it must be at the Greencastle High School parking lot for judging by 5 p.m. The streets will be closed starting at 5 p.m., so all other entries should be check in at 5 p.m. as well.

The route for the parade will be the same as previous years, from Washington Street to Indiana Street then south on Seminary and back to the high school or park.

The starting time from the high school is 6:30 p.m. Plans are to be at the Masonic Temple by 7 p.m.

Anyone who would like to enter something in the parade may talk to any of the parade committee or by coming to a meeting, which is held the fourth Thursday of each month at Sherwood Christian Church at 7 p.m.

Interested participants may also call Dorothy Edwards at 653-3885 for an entry form.

This year's committee members are, Gerald and Dorothy Edwards, Ken Heeke, Perry Wainman, Randy and Lauri Neeley, Bob and Bev Farrow, Matt and Jessica Carter, Nancy Michael, Ashley Underwood, John Jackman, Don Mundy and Gordon Williams.
