Wednesday, June 19, 2013

Asbury Towers Retirement Community and the Putnam County Senior Center are jointly offering day trips for the enjoyment of Senior Citizens of Putnam County. Rev. Eley, Michele Collins, Julie Dozer, Sharon Pitcock and Lew White Tours of Indianapolis have scheduled four trips from July to December in 2013.

The first trip is planned for Wednesday, July 3 to Conner Prairie where the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will perform their Star Spangled Symphony. Luxury motor coaches will transport participants to and from Conner Prairie.

Reserved tables and chairs in front of the orchestra shell will be available for the trip participants as they sit back, relax and enjoy a catered family-style dinner served before the concert.

The two-hour concert will include a tribute to the five different branches of the armed forces, Revolutionary and Civil War re-enactors and a fireworks display set to three John Phillip Sousa marches, one of which will be Stars and Stripes Forever.

Those going to Conner Prairie will meet at the Asbury Towers' parking lot at 5 p.m. to board the bus. The trip will return to Greencastle around midnight.

Cost for this trip is $89 per person, reservations and payment should be made at the Senior Center's main desk or at Asbury Towers by June 20, while seats are available. Full trip itineraries are available at the Senior Center and Asbury Towers' main desks.

Future trips are scheduled for August 8 to the Fair Oaks Dairy and Pig Adventure, October 19 to the Southern Indiana Amish Country and on December 7 for dinner and the Purdue Christmas Show. Additional information about each trip is available at Asbury Towers and the Putnam County Senior Center.
