June Elizabeth Sanders, 90, Indianapolis, formerly of Greencastle and Green Valley, Ariz., passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

She was born Jan. 17, 1923, in Ann Arbor, Mich., the daughter of the late George and Hazel (Woodward) Sandenburgh.

She attended Western College for Women and the University of Michigan. She remained an avid University of Michigan football and basketball fan for the rest of her life.

She married Col. (Ret.) Frederick Armstrong Sanders on May 25, 1943. He preceded her in death March 30, 2009. During her husband's Air Force career, June enjoyed living in numerous places in the United States as well as Japan and Germany. While in Japan, June had a career as a professional model.

June was an active community volunteer and was a member of Alpha Phi, PEO and Tri Kappa. She loved creating oriental rugs and knitting, was an excellent cook and entertainer, and she enjoyed playing golf and bridge.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Sanders (James) Gammon of Greencastle and Susan Sanders (Michael) Harmless of Greencastle; three grandchildren, Heather (Bart) Donegan of Indianapolis, Shannon (Greg) Rotvold of Indianapolis and Bradley Armstrong (April) Garner of Lebanon; and six great-grandchildren, Samantha and Jakob Rotvold, Mackenzie, Madison, Molly, Meredith Garner.

The family will gather for a private memorial luncheon.
