County highway co-supervisor suspended indefinitely

In an emergency meeting Friday afternoon, the Putnam County Commissioners voted to suspend county highway co-supervisor Jim Smith.

Smith's suspension is indefinite in duration and is with pay. The commissioners are likely to revisit the issue at an upcoming regularly scheduled meeting.

  • Threatening? Really? I have known for Mr. Smith very well for several years & he doesn't have a threatening bone in his body. I'm totally dumb-founded. Is this Putnam County politics?

  • Sorry for the late post. I am shocked - and have to agree with pbwanabee on this one. Mr. Smith deserves better than this after almost 30yrs of service to this County. He has always been one to hold a person accountable to do a job they are paid to do...hope that's not what this is all about. In regards to the public - are we talking about people who feel their roads deserve to be paved before others'?...sounds like a witch hunt to me.
