Calvin L. Lints

Calvin L. Lints, 64, of Brazil, passed away June 27, 2013 at 4:10 p.m. at the Exceptional Living Center.

He had been battling cancer and had been a resident there for a short time. He was born Oct. 15, 1948, in Clay County, the son of Edward Junior Lints and Elizabeth Angleton Lints.

Calvin graduated from Reelsville High School and at the age of 19 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in the Army for four years and later served in the Army National Guard for over 20 years.

In his years with the Guard, he felt privileged to work at the Olympics in Atlanta and also had helped with the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. He worked as a saw operator for Cook Lumber for several years.

Calvin loved to be outdoors and that also included mushroom hunting. He was a member of the American Legion Post #2. Calvin has been a good son, brother, dad and papaw.

Survivors include his mother Elizabeth Lints of Brazil; daughter Mary Sanders and husband Tommy; grandchildren Lindsey Sanders and William Sanders; sisters Duquata Rankin and husband Sam, and Bernice Headley all of Brazil; nephews Shawn Marcum and Billy Gehle; niece Nicki Sickles and husband Kenny and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father; daughter Jessica Lints; one brother, Allen Lints; nephew, Chad Gehle and brother in law, Bob Headley.

Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Christ Community Church with Pastor Rich Laskowski officiating. Burial will follow with graveside military rites provided by the American Legion Post #2 and VFW #1127. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11a.m. -1 p.m. also at the church.
