The Fret Set

This week's edition of ParkFest will feature the Covered Bridge Country Chorus and the Fret Set.

The concert is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Bob Flanigan Memoral Bandshell at Robe-Ann Park.

The chorus began in 2003 as the dream of a few women who wanted to bring barbershop music to the Greencastle community. The group has performed at various local events, including the 100th anniversary of the Putnam County Courthouse, Lights of Love and the EAA Radio show performance at the Airport Appreciation Days event.

CBCC regularly sings in area nursing homes throughout the year. The chorus sang the National Anthem at the 2006 Indianapolis Colts game on New Year's Eve.

As part of its endeavor to improve, CBCC participates yearly in an area convention and contest. This arena is one of education as well as performance in the barbershop style.

The chorus is part of the international organization, Harmony Inc. CBCC has earned numerous awards and has qualified to attend Harmony Inc. international contest for the past five years.

The Fret Set is a group of friends who have been playing together since 1994, with new members added through the years. Their songs are traditional and contemporary folk and gospel.

The band has been performing at the Greencastle Civic League's Parkfest for 15 years.
