REELSVILLE - In the early morning hours of July 4 the neighborhood of Appleblossom Estates in Reelsville was awaken by a five alarm fire at 22 Winesap at 3:10 a.m.

The mobile home and garage were engulfed in flames by the time firefighters from the Reelsville Fire Department arrived on scene at 3:17 a.m. The home owned by Frank Coffey was unoccupied at the time, with Coffey being out of town.

"The neighbors called in the fire," Reelsville assistant chief John McPherson said. "They said that they heard an explosion and when they looked outside (Coffey's) home was in flames."

The cause of the fire has been ruled as underdetermined. McPherson also stated that it would be unlikely a cause would be found due the extent of the damage to the mobile home. The estimated cost of damages is around $60,000.

Also on scene were Greencastle Fire Department, Cloverdale Township Fire Department, Madison Township Fire Department, Bainbridge Fire Department and Operation Life.

  • Frank is a co-worker at Krogers. He lost everything in this fire. Our hearts go out to all that lost their belongings. Thank God, no one was hurt.
