Pruett takes over leadership of Rust's Indiana properties
Rust Communications co-presidents Jon and Rex Rust, and regional vice president Randy List, have announced a leadership change at their three newspapers in Indiana.
Chris Pruett has been named publisher and part owner of the Banner Graphic in Greencastle, The Brazil Times and the Greene County Daily World and The Shopper.
The announcement was made at the summer Rust Communications meetings in St. Louis.
"We are blessed to have Chris's leadership at our Indiana properties. He is a great member of our newspaper family," Rex Rust said. "We know he will serve the communities well."
List said he has confidence in Pruett's abilities.
"I'm proud of the leadership that Chris has demonstrated over the last several months," List said. " I'm confident he will continue to strive to make our papers the main source for news and advertising in each of our areas."
Pruett was named senior general manager of the three Indiana properties in September 2012 when List moved to Iowa.
"I'm thrilled and honored to take over the publisher's duties at the three Indiana properties," Pruett said. "I'm humbled that Jon and Rex Rust and Randy have the confidence in me to continue the successful tradition the three properties have in their communities.
"Rust Communications is a family-owned business, and the people who work for the company in Indiana have proven to be valuable and contributing members of their communities."
Pruett will continue to live in rural Greene County with his wife Deb, and will spend time at all three properties each week.
"I'm fortunate to have solid staffs at all three properties, and will lean on those employees to continue to produce the best print and online products in their communities," Pruett said.
"The newspaper business has changed a lot the past five years, and more change is on the way. Our print and digital products are the No. 1 source for news, sports, and advertising in their communities and we will continue to add new features."
Pruett came to Linton as sports editor of the Linton Daily Citizen in 1983, and worked at the Terre Haute Tribune-Star from July 1990 to February 1998. Upon his return to Linton in February 1998 he served as editor, general manager and senior general manager.
