Sheriff's Department

* At 1 p.m. on Thursday, Breeshauna L. Porter, 16, Greencastle, was driving northeast on County Road 450 West in a 1998 GMC pickup.

As she rounded a curve, the truck began to slide on the gravel road, sliding sideways over an embankment and into a tree on the passenger side door.

Neither Porter nor her two passengers were injured.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 4:54 p.m. Friday, Gary Cofer, 60, Cloverdale, was southbound on County Road 1000 South in a 1996 Dodge Ram van.

He told Deputy Ronnie Campbell that he saw the northbound 2003 Ford F150 driven by Cynthia J. Jones, 64, Cloverdale, and went off the road to avoid a collision.

Jones told Campbell the road is too narrow and she could not react in time to avoid the crash.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* Early on Saturday morning, Lt. Dwight Simmons was dispatched to the report of a property-damage accident in the yard at 10995 S. CR 10 East in Cloverdale Township.

Witnesses told Simmons that the driver, Travis Polen, 23, Indianapolis, was heavily intoxicated. He reportedly took the keys from inside the residence while the owner of the car was sleeping.

The owner of the home said she woke up to the sound of a vehicle in her yard and looked outside, seeing Polen driving it.

She then asked Polen what he was doing and he said he did not know.

She then advised the vehicle's owner of the damage to her vehicle, and the owner, in turn, contacted police.

Polen then reportedly passed out at the wheel for a short time. Upon waking up, he learned that police had been notified and fled the scene on foot northbound on County Road 10.

Attempts to locate him were unsuccessful.

Simmons' investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon, had been driven southbound across the yard, where a tree was sideswiped, causing damage to the entire passenger side of the car. The vehicle was then driven back across the front yard and parked in the driveway.

Polen was also found to have a suspended driver's license.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
