Wednesday, August 7, 2013

Daughter of two parents in the U.S. Air Force, international traveler from an early age, Fort Hays State University graduate, and now a featured artist at the Putnam County Museum, Ellen Dreyer has had a life bountiful with inspiration and experience.

The 27-year-old Dreyer has developed into an eclectic and talented artist from her rich upbringing, and the Putnam County Museum will host her metalwork exhibit with an opening 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.

Also prior to her exhibit opening, she will host a meet and greet on from 5-7 p.m. Thursday on the mezzanine at Eli's Books and Starbucks.

In college Dreyer became enraptured with sculpture -- specifically metal working/blacksmithing, and her passion for sculpture has continued to her life today in Greencastle. She also enjoys mediums such as watercolor, painting, charcoal and ceramics.

The Putnam County Museum encourages the community to meet the artist and Greencastle resident. She has a perspective and style all her own, and her work will create an impressive display of technical and visionary skill.
