Brazil Concert Band to have grand finale on Sunday

BRAZIL -- The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, presents "Among Our Favorites Grand Finale 2013" Sunday Aug. 25 in Forest Park, rain or shine.

The free concert will begin at the special time of 7:30 p.m. and will include an intermission.

Among favorites from Broadway and Hollywood will be "The Wizard of Oz" by Barnes, "The King and I" arranged by Bennett and Lang's setting of "The Music Man."

Two favorite overture transcriptions by Henry Fillmore from Austrian composer Franz von Suppe to be heard are "The Poet and Peasant" and "Light Cavalry."

BCB trombonist and euphonium player Norman Hanson will solo in "Bolivar," a work by Cook. Hanson teaches at Northwest Sullivan Schools and is a fixture in many bands and orchestras in the Wabash Valley.

Patriotic favorites will sound forth in "Irving Berlin a Symphonic Portrait" by Ades and Grundman's "The Blue and the Gray."

March lovers will hear several favorites with "His Honor" and "The Footlifter" by Fillmore, "Supreme Triumph" and "Shrine of Liberty" by Jewell and "Semper Fidelis" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever" by Sousa.
