Cloverdale Middle School rumbles through Edgewood
CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale seventh and eighth grade football teams completed a sweet of Edgewood on Thurday. The seventh grade Clovers won 16-0 and the eighth-graders won 14-0.
In the seventh grade game the teams were locked in a scoreless tie until through halftime. The Clovers took the kickoff and marched down the field, scoring when Parker Watts punched in a run around the left side.
Cloverdale added on more score midway through the fourth and converted on both two-point tries.
The eighth grade squad played one of its hardest-hitting games in recent memory. The two teams were getting through first-game nerves and drew several penalties, but the Clovers were in control throughout.
Steven Allen scored on the Clovers' second possession, punching the ball in after back-to-back carries. CMS also successfully converted its two-point try.
That remained the only score until late in the fourth when Cloverdale added one more touchdown.
