Tiger Cubs swept at Crawfordsville

CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The Greencastle volleyball team lost at Crawfordsville on Thursday, 25-12, 25-10, 25-14.

The loss drops the Tiger Cubs to 0-2 for the season.

Leading the offense was junior Sydney Smiley, who finished with six kills. Juniors Jessica Lenihan and Olivia Divine had four kills each. Divine also had four aces and seven digs.

"The girls will be working hard in the coming practices on serve receiving and playing with self confidence in order to fight for a win in Tuesday's match against Southmont," GHS coach Maggie Walters said.

Providing other quality play for the Tiger Cubs were juniors Taylor and Delanie Stoltey. Taylor had 10 assists and Delanie had four.

Juniors Kennedy Downing and Quinci Miller each had six digs to help spark the defense. Junior Brittany Welker also contributed with her solid serve receiving, Walters said.

In the JV game Greencastle played hard and stuck with the Athenians before losing 2-0.

Greencastle plays at Southmont on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
