CLINTON -- The Cloverdale girls' golf team finished the three-team meet at South Vermillion on Tuesday with a season-best round of 209, good enough for second place.

SVHS won the match with a nine-hole team score of 203 and Southmont finished third at 210.

"(I'm) very proud of our girls' effort tonight," CHS coach Matthew Langdon said. "Tonight was a good step in the right direction for this year's team. We beat our season-best by eight strokes on a challenging course.

"But we need to be able to turn around and do this again."

MaKayla Moore was medalist on Tuesday. She led the Clovers with a 47. Harlee Fuetter (50), Izzy Wardlow (56) and Abbie Speas (56) all contributed to the team score for CHS.

The Clovers hosted Greencastle and Monrovia on Wednesday. CHS tied its season-best with another 209. GHS had a 220 and Monrovia a 214.

Fuetter led Cloverdale with a 46.

Greencastle got top-scores from Lauren Bridgewater and Meredith Knieper, who both finished at 47.

Cloverdale is off until next Saturday when it plays at the West Central Conference tournament. Greencastle hosts Owen Valley on Thursday.
