City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 5:20 a.m. Sunday, Lance B. Partin, 36, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Kyle Lee at Washington Street and Hammond Drive.

Charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated/refusal, Partin was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

-- At 6:48 p.m. Saturday, Jason Lee Jones, 34, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Eric Vaughan at a residence at 404 W. Liberty St.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Jones faces a charge of invasion of privacy.

-- At 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Amber Lee Thompson, 27, Greencastle, was arrested at the College Inn motel by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Thompson was arrested on a Putnam County warrant for failure to appear.

Two recent traffic accidents were investigated by city officers.

-- At 10:44 a.m. Monday, a one-car accident occurred on State Road 240, approximately 300 feet east of Calbert Way.

Sean Jones, 26, Fillmore, was westbound, driving a 2000 Subaru, when the car suddenly veered to the right, witnesses said, and left the roadway on the north side.

Jones' car went across Area 30 Career Center property and crossed over Calbert Way, going between a couple of trees and through a fence before coming to rest in a bean field.

Officer Jeff Modlin estimated total damage at $2,500-$5,000.

Jones, who police said suffered a possible seizure, was transported via Operation Life ambulance to Putnam County Hospital with pain to his shoulder and upper arm.

He was ticketed by Officer Modlin for reckless driving.

-- At 2:12 p.m. Saturday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on North Jackson Street, 100 feet south of Depot Street.

Stefany Terrell, 22, Merrillville, was northbound, driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruz, when she was forced to slow for two vehicles in front of her, including one turning near the viaduct. Also northbound was Nathaniel Towne, 32, Greencastle, driving a 2002 Dodge Ram.

Capt. Mike Hanlon reported that Towne applied his brakes but the truck slid into the rear of the Terrell car.

Total damage was listed at $2,500-$5,000.

Two additional traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Timothy Parker, 25, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Matt Huffman for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense. He was stopped at Indianapolis Road and Veterans Highway.

-- At 8:42 p.m. Saturday, Andrew Krouse, 30, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Kyle Lee at Avenue D and Percy Julian Drive for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff's Department

* At 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Kathryn N. Curnow, 18, Greencastle, was driving north on County Road 880 West in a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier.

Curnow stated to reserve officer Barry Barger stated that it was raining at the time and Curnow was driving the speed limit.

However, as she started to turn north on County Road 750 North she lost control of the car due to the west surface, which resulted in Curnow striking a light pole, street signs and running through the end of a fence.

Curnow made arrangements with the owner of the fence and light pole, George O. Waltz, Greencastle, to get them fixed. County Highway was informed about the street signs being down.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Alexis R. Daniels, 17, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 575 East in a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon.

Daniels stated to Reserve officer Barry Barger that while driving up hill she lost control of the vehicle, which resulted in her hitting an embankment, causing the car to roll onto its top, coming to rest on the side of the road.

Daniels was not injured and refused medical treatment.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 5:44 a.m. on Monday, Brett G. Scheurmann, 24, Greencastle, was driving on County Road 350 North when he fell asleep behind the wheel of his 1989 GMC Sierra, which resulted in him driving into a ditch and hitting a telephone box.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
