CLOVERDALE -- If Cloverdale wanted something to celebrate for Homecoming Friday night against Turkey Run, they got it and then some.

The Clovers overwhelmed the Warriors in every facet of the contest, a distinction that was reflected in the 52-0 scoreline.

Picking up his first win as head coach, Cloverdale's Jarrod Duff said the win started with the play of David Lovejoy, Brayden White, Robert Buskirk, Tyler Carter and Tyler Lotz on the offensive line.

"Our offensive line was fantastic tonight," Duff said. "It was by far our best performance on the line tonight. We owned the line of scrimmage and my hat goes off to them. Our offensive line put their stamp on this game and I'm proud of their efforts."

The line appeared to have helped open the scoring on the game's third play, only for a penalty to wipe out a 31-yard run by Andrew Howard.

Instead, it took 11 plays for Cloverdale to score. Wade Warren scored the first of his four touchdowns on a 13-yard strike from Mark Osmialowski.

Cody Stout indirectly got the next points of the game after a strip sack of Turkey Run quarterback Drew Ferguson. The scramble for the ball in the end zone ended with the Warriors conceding a safety.

Warren punched in the second Clover touchdown two minutes into the second quarter, running in from five yards out to stretch the lead to 14-0.

Howard bullied the visitors two possessions later to the tune of 38 yards on four straight carries, ending with a two-yard score to give Cloverdale their 20-0 halftime lead.

Getting great field position to start their first drive of the second half, the hosts scored through Warren again, this time from Duke Duff to take a 27-0 lead.

Warren then intercepted Ferguson and ran 50 yards for a pick-six. Three plays later, Troy Davis repeated the trick for the Clovers, only to see his score wiped out by a penalty on the return.

Taylor Mescall got the next score instead, capping an eight-play drive off the interception with a four-yard plunge to increase the lead to 40-0.

Howard got his second score of the game a little over a minute into the fourth quarter on a 21-yard scamper. Cloverdale's final score came four minutes later through Ethan Boyd's 48-yard run.

While the offense was busy flying past Turkey Run, the Clover defense stuffed the Warriors at every turn, allowing a miserly eight yards of offense in the first half and 67 for the entire game.

Duff said that unlike the first few weeks, the play of the defense was coupled with a result that matched the effort.

"I felt like we played well at times in the last three weeks and weren't rewarded for our good play with a win," Duff said. "It's nice to come out, play well and be rewarded with that win. Our defense set the tone early and did a real nice job.

"We talked this week about being consistent, doing our job and knowing what our responsibilities were on every single play. They shut their running game down and had a couple of interceptions and I was proud of their efforts."

So dominant was Cloverdale's performance that there was not a single offensive snap on the hosts' side of the 50-yard line. The stat was not lost on Duff.

"That's pretty good," Duff said. "That's telling you that offensively we moved the ball and defensively we controlled the line of scrimmage and did a good job overall."

The Clovers turn their attention to Cascade next week and Duff said that the contest would be a different challenge for the squad. It was a challenge, though, that the team would approach just as they had done for Turkey Run.

"Cascade is going to be a different beast," Duff said. "They run a more open offense and throw the ball a lot more. They have good athletes who can run the ball.

"The way we go about every practice and every game is to play the right way and get better every day. We'll get after it this week again. We'll get in here for film and recovery tomorrow, lift Monday morning and get after it to improve in every aspect of the game."
