Delbert L. "Tom" Rowe, 72, Greencastle, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at The Waters of Greencastle.

He was born Feb. 23, 1941 at Connersville, Ind., the son of Delbert C. Rowe and Ada (Sasher) Comstock. His parents preceded him in death.

He was a Shelby County Sheriff's Department deputy from 1962-66. He then joined the Indianapolis Police Department, where he served for 31 years until his retirement in 1999.

He was a member of the Police Officers Bass Club and the Indianapolis FOP.

Tom was always active in his children's activities or was enjoying his fishing adventures.

Survivors include his wife, Janice (Schumacker) Rowe; a son, Jeffery (Donna) Rowe, Fountaintown; a daughter, Melissa (Chris) Wilson, Greencastle; a sister, Barbara (Glyndon) Smith, Connersville; two brothers, Jerry (Alice) Merrill, St. Paul, and Billy Joe (Mae) Comstock, Indianapolis; and four grandchildren, Julie, Hannah, Kinzee and Keifer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Rowe.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Murphy-Sparks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville. Robert Prather will officiate.

Visitation is set for 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery at Shelbyville.
