Eagles tennis swept at Danville

DANVILLE -- The South Putnam boys' tennis team lost at Danville 5-0 on Monday.

The Eagles were downed in straight sets in every varsity match, with No. 1 doubles extending their match the closest. Trey Moore and Jake Carmichael, playing together for the first time this year, lost 6-4, 7-5.

Tyler Long lost at one singles 0-4; Collin Berry lost at two singles 4-1; Josh Stewart at three singles 1-3 and Derek Chestnut and Zane Crosby at two doubles 1-3.

The Eagles swept their JV matches, played in eight-game pro sets. In singles Aaron Cole won his match 8-5; in doubles Sam Russell and Ben Albright won 8-0 and Nick Chambers and Ian Douglas won 8-2.

SPHS returns to the court on Thursday when it hosts Crawfordville at 5:15 p.m.
