MONROVIA -- The North Putnam girls' soccer team earned it's first West Central Conference victory of the season on Tuesday, winning at Monrovia 2-1.

Freshman Christa McRoy (7) scored both goals for the Cougars, picking up an assist from Emile Henninger.

The win pushed North Putnam's record up to 6-3 for the season, including a 1-1 mark in the WCC.

NPHS coach Willie Gaskins said McRoy's impressive offensive game could have been wasted if not for the impressive performance of his sophomore goalkeeper.

"Claire Sims played phenomenal tonight," Gaskins said. "She had one PK stop and two other diving stops to keep the lead."

North Putnam plays at Tri-West on Thursday with a chance to push continue it's recent hot streak.
