County Jail

At 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Christen Nicole Walton, 29, Brazil, was booked into the Putnam County Jail for possession of a handgun without a permit, possession of a syringe and probation violation.

City Police

One recent theft arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, Michael Anvoots, 25, Greencastle, was arrested at his 708 E. Washington St. residence on a theft charge.

Anvoots is accused of stealing a JVC CD/receiver from a glass case at the Pawn Store, 24 S. Indiana St.

He was lodged in the Putnam County Jail following his arrest by Capt. Mike Hanlon.

One recent accident was investigated by City Police officers.

The mishap, which involved Round Barn Manor apartment roommates driving separate cars, occurred at 5:12 p.m. Wednesday on 10th Street at the east entrance to the Speedway gas station.

Rachelle Collins, 27, Greencastle, was southbound on Round Barn Road, driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, when a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Amber M. Reed, 22, Greencastle, reportedly pulled into her path in an attempt to enter the Speedway lot.

Reed, who was northbound on Round Barn Road, turned left thinking she had enough time to make the turn but a collision occurred.

Police officials said neither driver realized the other car was driven by her roommate until after the collision occurred.

Total damage in the accident was listed at $5,000-$10,000.

One recent speeding citation was written by city officers.

-- At 12:03 p.m. Wednesday, Victoria Craddock, 17, Cloverdale, was ticketed by Capt. Hanlon for 45 mph in a 30-mph zone on Indianapolis Road.

Sheriff's Department

* At 5:21 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, Jacqueline J. Shepherd, 29, Brazil, was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 2003 Dodge Caravan. She told Deputy Philip Troyer that as she rounded a curve near County Road 775 West, her van began to fishtail, causing her to lose control of it on the wet pavement.

The van then left the road and entered a ditch. Witnesses said the vehicle rolled three or four times before coming to rest on the driver's side.

Dispatch told Troyer the occupants were trapped, but they were out upon his arrival.

Shepherd told Troyer she was OK but the three children in the vehicle were transported to Hendricks Regional with minor injuries.

Deputy T.J. Smith assisted Troyer at the scene. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Paige Cassida, 24, Bainbridge, was southbound on County Road 25 West, just south of U.S. 36 in a 2006 Dodge Stratus.

Cassida told Lt. Donnie Pettit her vision was impaired due to an oncoming vehicle failing to dim its high beams.

Cassida ran off the road on the west side and sideswiped a tree.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
